The Hotel School Sydney

The Hotel School Sydney is a unique industry-academic partnership between Southern Cross University and Mulpha Australia's hotel portfolio (InterContinental Sydney, Hayman Island, Sanctuary Cove, Hyatt at Sanctuary Cove, Hilton Airport, Melbourne, and Bimbadgen Estate Hunter Valley). Paid internship in employer reserved places is an attractive feature of the program, as is its proximity to the five star hotel, InterContinental Sydney (adjacent). The School is positioned in the heart of Sydney, with the Harbour, Opera House and Botanical Gardens on its doorstep.

At its inception in 1989, The Hotel School Sydney first operated as an integral part of the InterContinental Sydney, but now, due to growth and demand, has close working relationships with many leading tourism and hospitality organisations in Australia and around the world.

The Hotel School Sydney delivers a Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management focusing on hotel operational skills, management practice in the tourism and hospitality industry and the skills needed for continued learning in a changing global business environment. The programme develops dedicated professionals with university qualifications that are recognised and highly regarded internationally. This is clearly demonstrated by the continued global success of our graduates.

In 2009, The Hotel School Sydney has 450 enrolled students; 330 from Australia and a further 120 international students from more than 30 different countries. Enrolment places are competitive and restricted by a selection process that includes an interview.

The Hotel School Gold Coast will open in 2011 as part of the new Southern University Gold Coast campus offering undergraduate and masters degrees. This prime location will deliver the same quality education embedded in industry work experience and thus continue in our graduate success.

The Hotel School Sydney also runs industry management courses and is the founding member of the Association of Australian Hotel Schools (AHAS).
