Tourism and Hospitality studies
As the only institution in Australia accredited by the World Tourism Organisation (WTO), UQ's School of Tourism has established an international reputation for fostering tomorrows leaders in tourism, hospitality, leisure and event management. Students have access to all of UQ‘s world class facilities, including the largest library in Queensland and the major tourism collection in Australia.

As home to five major industry journals, and a partner in leading edge research projects, the School engages directly with industry on a local, national and international level. In the lead up to the 2008 Olympics in China, the Beijing Tourism Bureau has called upon the School to conduct executive training in security and risk management for Beijing's tourism and hotel management.

International in Outlook
The School of Tourism prides itself on being international in outlook and standing. In addition to WTO accreditation, the School is a founding member of the Asia-Pacific Education and Training Institutes in Tourism (APETIT) and a member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Education Committee.

Beyond the desire to provide professional and innovative programs, the School has a dedicated sense of social responsibility and is quickly establishing itself as a beacon of best practice in the industry. Demonstrating a commitment to excellence throughout the sector, in 2005 the School awarded developmental scholarships to both the WTO and the Australian Hotels Association.

Research Programs and Innovation
As one of Australia's oldest tourism and hospitality research institutions with accomplished research staff hailing from across five continents, the School has positioned itself as an international leader in research and development.
