Tourism and Hospitality studies
Members of SCU School of Tourism and Hospitality Management's Industry Advisory Board are drawn from a variety of industry sectors. They inject a strong stakeholder influence into the University's award winning courses and commercial links which include Club Managers Association of Australia (CMAA) and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
The result is a range of innovative Bachelor, Masters and research degrees that respond directly to industry needs.
Currently over 1200 students are enrolled at Tweed Gold Coast, Lismore, Coffs Harbour and SCU's Hotel School at the InterContinental Hotel in Sydney. Areas of study include:

• Environmental Management
• Convention and Event Tourism Management
• Tourism and Hotel Business Management
• International Tourism and Hotel Management
Industry exposure is a key aspect of SCU study programs. Internships are available at undergraduate and master level, and are another aspect of the School's strong industry partnerships.
SCU's international education partnerships add to the range of study experiences available to students, with program and exchange opportunities established in Singapore, Thailand, China, USA, UK and Holland.
Academic Excellence
SCU Academics have a broad range of industry experience and academic backgrounds, evidenced by their wide publication in areas including hotel management, marketing of tourism destinations and convention and event management. Specialist areas of expertise among SCU academics include:

Research and Industry Programs
Students and academics from SCU are widely recognised for leading edge research projects that impact industry and communities on a regional, national and international level.
The following initiatives have forged new knowledge frontiers in the Tourism and Hospitality industry:
• The Hotel School Sydney (THSS) is a unique partnership with the five star
InterContinental Hotel in Sydney, offering Southern Cross
Universities Bachelor of Business in Hotel Management.
• The Centre for Regional Tourism Research (CRTR) is a
nationally recognised centre for research into tourism issues in
non-metropolitan areas. The CRTR is a partnership with The
Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre (STCRC)
and organises the annual Regional Tourism Convention.
• The Centre for Gambling Education and Research (CGER)
provides innovative education and research into gambling
policy, management and operations, gambling behaviour and
its impacts.
The Centre was set up with a seed grant from the industry.
• The School produces the Meeting and Event Trend Analysis
(META) reports for industry.
• The School offers a BBus Club and Gaming Management to
members of the Club Managers Association of Australia
(CMAA)
Currently 17 PhD students are enrolled at SCU researching a range of industry-relevant areas.
