Khang Le Huynh from Vietnam won a Diploma in Hospitality Management scholarship from the International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE) and Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (NSI). Since commencing his studies in Sydney, Khang has settled in very well. Before coming to study in Australia, Khang, from Saigon in Vietnam, worked as a Meetings Service Coordinator apprentice for the Park Hyatt Saigon, which helped to make him an excellent candidate to win the scholarship.
Khang was impressed with the industry-oriented learning resources offered by NSI, and the five-star-based restaurant training which helps students to build a lot of confidence. "It's a very big college with a warm feel to it and slightly tropical gardens outside. I haven't seen any colleges that have a bar, restaurant, Coffee Acedemy and function rooms before. They even have the Blaxland Hotel here. Also the teachers are very nice and make the course exciting in the way they teach the more practical aspects, like how to make customers feel good."
Khang recently visited Sydney's Taronga Zoo following a short ferry ride across Sydney Harbour where he saw the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge from the water. During this visit to the zoo he got close to some native Australian wildlife including a baby koala and its mother, which was a unique experience. |
