Qiao En Cheong from Malaysia won THE-ICE Bachelor Scholarship to study the Bachelor of Business in Tourism Management at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. She was keen to win the Scholarship because it enabled her to study tourism in Australia. She hopes to bring this international tourism knowledge back to Malaysia to pioneer and develop the Malaysian tourism industry.
Qiao En Cheong's home town is Johor, Bahru, Malaysia. "Johor, Bahru is very beautiful is very beautiful and has many natural resources, but it is not well developed yet.", said Qiao En.
Upon completion of her Bachelor Degree, Qiao En plans to return to Malaysia and pursue a career in the tourism industry. "I think tourism is really interesting and my international bachelor qualification will be a real asset to my career", she said.
Qiao En's first impression of Australia was how 'warm and friendly' the Australians are and it is always sunny and has beautiful beaches. She is really enjoying the University life. "There are so many different nationalities studying at Griffith, you feel like you belong.", she said. "I have made lots of friends here who come from not only Malaysia and of course Australia, but also Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Indonesia and Japan. It is a really safe and happy place to study." |
