Esthel Inassee from Mauritius won THE-ICE Diploma Scholarship to study the Diploma in Tourism at TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute (NSI). Esthel is delighted that she has won the scholarship to study tourism in Australia. "A Diploma from Australia is very prestigious as it is a high quality internationally recognised qualification", said Esthel. Esthel has joined Khang Le Huynh from Vietnam at NSI.
Esthel has chosen to study tourism because it is such a challenging and interesting industry. Esthel comes from Grand Bay in Mauritius. Grand Bay is situated in the north of the island and excellent for beach-resort tourists. "Mauritius is a well developed tourism destination and I would like to work in the management areas of the hotel when I go back", she said. Esthel would also like to undertake further study to complete a Bachelor Degree in the future and her goal is: "I love to teach, and would like to one day with my experience and education in tourism and hospitality industry, be able to teach tourism and hospitality in Mauritius." Esthel has settled quickly into her studies at NSI. "The teachers are very caring and helpful, it is very easy to learn in such a relaxed and friendly environment", she said. She lives in a suburb close to the TAFE Campus and is working part-time at the IBIS Hotel in Sydney.
When asked of her first impressions of Sydney, she said "It is a beautiful city with lots of art and culture, you can find anything you want in Sydney, it has everything. The Australian people are very friendly and even though it is such a big city, I feel very safe and welcome. Since Esthel arrived in Sydney, she has visited a few sites and very much enjoyed the Contemporary Museum. She hopes to visit the Hunter Valley Wineries, Manly Beaches and the other Australian Capital Cities while she is here. |
